Again a technical instruction referring to printed circuit boards:

"Brücken B1 - B4 schließen."

There's no more context provided.

What does "schließen" mean in this context?

You can probably close an electrical bridge in English but in modern day digital circuitry, jumper is probably more likely.

It is not quite clear whether B1 and B4 are separate pins or pairs of pins. Since “Brücken” is in the plural I thought pairs of pins were being referred to.

agree  Holger41: It means that small metal "jumpers" are set on the circuit board in order to close a certain connection on it. As a result different functions can be "programmed" on one and the same circuit board, which has universal character.
