From a text about a company's wastewater/sewage systems. I don't undserstand what exactly is meant by "Abwasserrückhaltesystem", can't find a translation for it in any dictionary and my best English translation guesses are yielding virtually no search engine hits. I must confess that I'm also somewhat stuck on "Mischabwasser" and "Fabrikations- und Sanitärabwasser". TIA for helping me clear this up. |

Mischabwasser is simply mixed wastewater (consisting of raw sewage, industrial wastewater, etc.). It says so as much in your text above what it's composed of. See 2nd ref for a treatment plant of mixed wastewater.
Fabrikations- und Sanitärabwasser are industrial wastewater / sanitary wastewater.

If you're going to translate texts on environmental engineering, I suggest the Cornelsen Girardet or the Goetzel/Goetzel. I use those a lot. |
