Engineering (general) / Window design
German term or phrase: Schmutztaschen
This comes from a list of requirements for windows in trains:

Schmutztaschen sind sicher auszuschließen

I presume it's something to catch dust and dirt. Any ideas what it could be for windows on trains ?

dirt pockets
Explanation:
this is not really a tech term

What I meant to say is that this is a fairly general term for places that might collect dirt (due to the design of the object) - this could be on just about anything
