agree  Annette Scheulen: "Bewusst" ist nicht unbedingt überflüssig, nur der Bezug auf "Software" ist ein bisschen fragwürdig. Auch verbal möglich: "... allow additional parts and subassemblies to be designed".

  -> Ja, in der Satzkonstruktion ergibt das wenig Sinn und könnte implizieren, dass "unbewusst" - in den unergründlichen Tiefen der Softwareprogrammierung - doch von diesem Prinzip abweichende Funktionen vorhanden sind.
