going back to the discussion entry of Steffen Walter as to the correct term being "stoffschlüssig" instead of "stoffflüssig" because of a typo, Wikipedia gives an interesting explanation of "stoffschlüssige Verbindungen" in 4 categories:

Löten (= solder)
Schweißen (= weld)
Kleben (= glue)
Vulkanisieren (= vulcanize)

the membrane is not soldered or welded onto its membrane plate but either vulcanized or glued (adhered) onto it, probably the former rather than the latter

this would also go in the direction of the suggested answer from Wendy Streitparth that this is a fusion bonding process (also known as a fusion joining procedure)

the bonding of the flexible, inflatable diaphragm or membrane onto its membrane plate has to be sealed airtight or gas-tight with vulcanizing to ensure that the pneumatic actuator works correctly

if it is only glued onto its surface, it may come unstuck according to the wear and tear of the pneumatic actuator in use
