German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Environment & Ecology / waste incinerator
German term or phrase: Begrenzungseingriffe
Various other Begrenzungseingriffe are fitted to prevent the control system from reacting inappropriately if a uniform waste feed cannot be guaranteed or the waste does not ignite. Diese Eingriffe sind in den nachfolgenden Kapiteln bescrieben.

Interlocks? TIA for any other suggestions. Note the simple reference to "Eingriffe" in the 2nd sentence. I can't make up my mind whether this distinction is necessary (or significant).

Clarification request(s) and response
Jonathan MacKerron: 2:30pm Jun 24, 2008: please provide the original German sentence
Chetan Sampat: 6:21pm Jun 24, 2008: As "diese Eingriffe sind in den nachfolgenden Kapiteln bescrieben", it would be a good idea to explore the "nachfolgende Kapitel" for a description (and understanding) of the "Eingriffe".
Martin Henderson: 7:43am Jun 25, 2008: nachfolgende Kapitel - Chetan: indeed, but unfortunately they haven't been provided and are allegedly not available!

interventions [intervention routines] to mitigate undesirable/adverse effects/reactions
Explanation:
... would be the way I'd phrase this, judging by the original sentences ("intervention ***routines***" because of the "eingebaut"). I don't see the "Eingriffe" as physical objects built into the system.

Yes, Martin, I've seen your addition.

Thanks Steffen - I think "routines" is the safest option (at least the client hasn't come back to me yet about it).

Thanks as well to all other contributors.

Asker: Here's the DE sentence: Es sind noch verschiedene andere Begrenzungseingriffe eingebaut, die eine unerwünschte Reaktion der Regelung einschränken, wenn eine gleichmässige Müllzufuhr nicht gewährleistet ist oder der Müll nicht zündet.

stops/limits

Explanation:
It appears these are physical (stops) or computerized (limit values/thresholds) installed/implemented to prevent inapproriate settings in the operation of a plant.
