German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Environment & Ecology
German term or phrase: CO2-Bilanzierung
Kennt jemand den genauen Begriff? Ich kenn mich hier nicht so gut aus. Mit carbon balancing/accounting ist glaub ich eher carbon offset gemeint und das paßt hier nicht. Geht hier carbon footprinting?
Explanation: More context would help, but I can say that 'carbon balance' is a likely correct translation. Correctness will depend on whether just CO2 is meant, or if the context includes other greenhouse gases, in which care carbon balancing is often used with the other bases conveted to carbon or CO2 equivalents.
Please tell us the context you are using the term in.

Explanation: Corporate Carbon Footprint
As the first company in industry to do so, BASF published a corporate carbon footprint in 2008 which was updated in October 2009. This corporate carbon footprint contrasts the CO2 emission-savings that are achieved with BASF products and procedures with the emissions from raw material extraction, production and product disposal.
Corporations discharge greenhouse gas emissions, directly or indirectly, thereby contributing to climate change. PE INTERNATIONAL, the premier provider of solutions to quantify and manage corporate carbon emissions, helps you analyze and manage your Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF).
We have been reporting our corporate carbon footprint for a number of years and are proud supporters of the Carbon Disclosure Project. Our journey to measure the carbon footprint of a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk began with our desire to understand in more detail how we contribute to greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2 along our broader supply chain - and see how we can reduce our environmental impact.
I am afraid, I overlooked the asker's entry in the discussion box.
One could say *EMISSIONS ASSESSMENT*:
A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product" [1]. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.
The concept name of the carbon footprint originates from ecological footprint discussion.[2] The carbon footprint is a subset of the ecological footprint and of the more comprehensive Life Cycle *Assessment* (LCA).
An individual, nation, or organization's carbon footprint can be measured by undertaking a GHG emissions *assessment*. Once the size of a carbon footprint is known, a strategy can be devised to reduce it, e.g. by technological developments, better process and product management, changed Green Public or Private Procurement (GPP), Carbon capture, consumption strategies, and others.
