This is a special award granted by the German Sustainability Award Foundation (Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.), and unfortunately their website doesn't provide a translation, nor have I found any other English version online. I'm having a tough time coming up with something that's not too unwieldy - any creative input out there?

Here is my original context:

Die Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. zeichnete Unternehmensgruppe X für ihren vorbildlichen Einsatz von Recyclingpapier [...] mit dem Sonderpreis „Deutschlands recyclingpapierfreundlichstes Unternehmen“ aus.

neutral  writeaway: it's the name of an award. The German uses the superlative. I don't see how pioneer would work in this particular context./I don't read past the first 2 answers.

I cannot help thinking that an allusion to "umweltfreundlich" is intended here.
