I've heard of "rund gerechnet", but not this! I've also checked the KudoZ glossaries and more. The sentence is:

Thank you for this. I will use this translation (and reference your suggestion, if you don't mind!)to see what the feedback is. South African English is closer to UK English so, as Werner Hehn wrote, it's possible that it won't be recognised. But I'm curious - and I like this translation.

Wie man schon vermuten kann, gerade das Gegenteil zu einer gerundeten Rechnung. Sehr exakt, und scharf kalkuliert. Mit dem Ziel, Kosten so niedrig wie möglich zu halten.

neutral Werner Hehn: With a 30 year background in UK accounting, I've never heard of a "sharp-pencil calculation". I'm very sure it is not a term used. If your text is US "English" however, it could be possible. I would use something like "as a detailled calculation"

agree jccantrell: yes, in business, they often recalculate things "after sharpening their pencils" meaning they REALLY looked over their assumptions and trimmed as much fat as possible.
