Context: Der Zinsaufwand ist in 2007/08 gegenüber dem Vorjahr in etwa gleich, da sich die Liquidität weiter verbessert hat, wurden deutlich höhere Veranlagungszinsen erzielt.
I do not really see the link between the interest expense and the higher yield from "Veranlagungen".
What are they - in English, please?

Explanation:
Hi Ruth,

Your item is most likely "net interest income" (esp. if it's a HGB report) so the interest income (e.g. from bank deposits) is netted against the interest expense on borrowings. The improved liquidity allowed the entity to reduce borrowings (hence lower interest expense), while at the same time they increased the yield on deposits

I don't normally use "investments" for Veranlagungen in this context simply because I don't see bank deposits as true "investments", but rather savings. But you could call it "interest from investments"
