Tech/Engineering - Food & Dairy / Bain Marie
German term or phrase: Abflußverschraubung
"Bei Bedarf kann die Abflussverschraubung (1“) ist über einen Geruchsverschluss (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten) an einen bauseitigen Abfluss anzuschließen. Verwenden Sie in diesem Fall hitzebeständige Bauteile."

Talking about fitting a Bain Marie on a food counter worktop. Any ideas on what an Abflußverschraubung might be? I found Ablaßverschraubung in Laixicon, for which "drain plug" was suggested, and wonder whether this Abflußverschraubung might be a synonym of that. But I really don't know what it is. Hopefully somone here does. TIA for your help.

Clarification request(s) and response
Rowan Morrell (asker): 6:43am May 31, 2004: Drain fitting? - Would that be a, um, fitting solution? I have a sneaking suspicion there's not a lot of difference between a drain plug and a drain fitting.

Hope you're not getting too drained in the search for an answer! ;-)

[basin] drain fitting
Explanation:
I think your hunch is correct, but it's the fitting that a plug is pushed into.

Explanation:
This is the normal term in the UK, and the optional bit underneath is the trap (to stop smells/odours coming back up from the sewer)
