German term or phrase: Ausblasung
Nach Besichtigung der Anlage wurde beschlossen, dass man die größte Staubquelle:
- Ausschleusung des mit Metallen verunreinigten Holzes durch Ausblasung -
durch Umbau in eine Ausschleusung des mit Metallen verunreinigten Holzes durch Klappe in einen Dump verwandelt.

(Es geht um den Umbau einer Recyclinganlage in einem Holzbetrieb - ich hoffe, Ihr könnt mir trotz des recht komplizierten Satzaufbaus helfen ;-))

Clarification request(s) and response
Ken Cox: 9:13am Apr 18, 2005: Do you know what form the wood is in? I can well imagine Ausblasung being used for sawdust or chips, but it's hard to imagine it being used for solid wood. -
tanja293 (asker): 10:46am Apr 18, 2005: It is used for sawdust. -

blowing out
Explanation:
'Ausblasen' means literally to blow something out of somewhere using air (or air being forced out of a space or container). Although you could use a translation such as 'expulsion using forced air' in a highly formal context, my inclination would be to reword the phrase along the lines of 'expelling the wood (sawdust) using a blower'.
