German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Forestry / Wood / Timber
German term or phrase: Brandroder
Nun kämpfen wir um das Überleben dieser Wälder. Doch nicht nur Wilderer und Grabräuber sind unsere Feinde, sondern auch Brandroder und Holzfäller!

This is the text for a fantasy video game. It deals with a group of characters who are very in tune with nature and are upset about what others are doing to their forests. I have been able to gather that this is clearing the forest by burning it, but is there a specific term in English for people who do this? Thanks for the help!

Although it sounds a little strange, it fit the context. Thanks!

forest clearers

Explanation:
This seems to be the term used. Perhaps a little unsatisfactory since the burning bit is implied.

"Generally forest clearers use slash-and-burn techniques to clear land, but on a much larger scale than traditional practices."

The rubber-tappers of Brazil are the guardians of the rainforest - a fact which the rest of us are beginning to recognise. For many years they were exploited both by their employers and by profit-greedy forest clearers, but now the formation of tappers' co-operatives, with leadership from people like the late Chico Mendes and some government backing, seems to be promoting a better understanding of the forest and of the protective role of the tappers.
