  -> Isn't Einschub a part of a ceiling? Treppe, I believe is a step, so I thought Einschubtreppe was a folding stairway leading to the attic, usually seen in US houses.

Wahrscheinlich ist dann auch Bernds Diskussionsbeitrag mit "trimming" richtig (Wechselbalken = trimming/trimmer beam/joist).
