German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Furniture / Household Appliances / Domestic central heating | | German term or phrase: Abgasverlustwert | This is from a service manual for a domestic central heating boiler. A measurement is taken by inserting a probe into the flue and the instruction simply reads:
"Abgasverlustwert bzw. feuerungstechnischen Wirkungsgrad bei Kesseltemperatur 60 Grad messen."
Does anyone know the precise term used in the UK for this? I assume it must be to do with heat loss. TIA. |

| | flue gas loss | Explanation: I seem to recall
-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 mins (2007-01-24 12:50:37 GMT) --------------------------------------------------
flue gas loss is loss via flue gas, not a loss of flue gas
-------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 mins (2007-01-24 12:53:15 GMT) --------------------------------------------------
Take this little device for example: http://www.rs-components.co.uk/1/453718980-Flue-gas-analyser...
It measures flue gas loss, not the amount of flue gas lost. |

Asker: I think it needs to be more specific than this as I am sure they are not talking about "loss of flue gas" but rather "loss via the flue(gas)"
Asker: Alan, thanks for your contributions. I have looked at your references and now also spoken to an engineer at a UK boiler producer. I note your reference uses "flue gas heat loss" in some places which is probably more precise. The engineer told me they simply call it "flue loss" so that is what I have gone for.
