German term or phrase:Abkürzzeit, abkürzen
Hello all!
This is from a racing game. I know that "abkuerzen" would normally be "to cut corners", but how does that fit in with a number of seconds and an "Abkuerzzeit"? Any help would be much appreciated!
"Unter "Max Abkürzzeit" koennen Sie festlegen, wieviele Sekunden ein Spieler wärend eines ganzen Rennens abkürzen darf, bevor er disqualifiziert wird."
Daniel Bird: 10:11pm Sep 15, 2005: Hi Hilary - it seems to me that the software let's say calcs the number of metres you gain by driving straight over the kerbs, equates this distance to time, and then kicks you out if the number of secs gained exceeds the limit set under Max Abkuerzzeit.. - Daniel Bird: 10:12pm Sep 15, 2005: . however, not being a natural cheat, I can't think of a gloss just yet DB - Melanie Sellers: 4:28pm Sep 18, 2005: Have you overlooked my answer, which came 7 hours prior to "pointblankcopy", I guess her name says it all. ;0) - Hilary Davies: 4:45pm Sep 18, 2005: Hello Melanie,
It was a tough call, but pointblankcopy had the exact phrase that I used, whereas you only had "Max. short cuts", which I didn't feel was grammatically correct. Ideally, pointblankcopy should probably have appended her suggestion to yours, but unfortunately she didn't. If you feel that pointblankcopy used your idea, please take it up with her. Thanks for your response and effort! Melanie Sellers: 4:50pm Sep 18, 2005: No hard feelings. You are welcome. ;0) -
