Can anyone shed some light on this for me? This is a fantasy/action video game, and this exert deals with the different abilities that the protagonists' minions possess. Thank you in advance!

meet one's timely end
Explanation:
Here, I would say
they (quickly) meet their timely end
or:
die fast

as it happens in battle, when these green thugs/minions face the enemy directly.
(drop like flies would be too crude maybe)

the German "segnen 'sie'..." bezieht sich m. E. auf die grünen Schergen und macht deshalb so auch Sinn.

ah... "un"timely end would also be an option maybe because they are dying before their allotted time span.

Asker: @Thomas, that could be why it was so difficult to find a translation!

agree Thomas Pfann: Yes, they won't last very long, the poor things. The German should be "segnet sie ziemlich schnell das Zeitliche" (not "segnen"), by the way.

Asker: Actually drop like flies is excellent! Slang is okay in this context, and it ties in nicely with smelly minions!

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
agree Paul Cohen: Given that slang is okay, I see no reason why the green minions shouldn't drop like flies - or meet their untimely end. ;-))

It's common in AE; I don't know about BE.
