German term or phrase: schon
How would you translate the two sentences below in spoken language?

- Ich fahre schon in zwei Wochen nach Hamburg.
- Ich fahre in zwei Wochen nach Hamburg.

Is 'already' appropriate for 'schon' in the first sentence, considering that it is an event in the future?

Thank you for your input.
M. Bach
English translation:as below
Explanation:
1. It's now only two weeks 'til I travel to Hamburg.
2. I'm travelling to Hamburg in two weeks. / in two weeks' time.

--------------------------------------------------

Ich fahre schon im Dezember (future) nach Hamburg.
If, for example, this sentence comes in response to the question: "Fahren Sie im März nach Hamburg?"

3. I'm already travelling to Hamburg in December.

Alternatively, something like:

3. I'll be travelling to Hamburg as early as December [rather than at some later date].

agree  Christina Heger: You could even add something like "It's only two more weeks 'til..." to put more emphasis on it.
