German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters / Meetings
German term or phrase: prüfen
Context:

"Der Ausschuss verabredet, die Niederschrift der letzten Sitzung zu prüfen, wenn alle Sprachfassungen vorliegen."

I'm familiar with 'passing' or 'approving' the minutes of a previous committee meeting, but I'm not actually sure if the right term for what precedes this. Are they inspected? Review (cf. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/723911 ) doesn't sound right to me in this context.

* Sentence or paragraph where the term occurs: See above
* Document type: Report on a meeting
* Target audience: Committee members
* Country and dialect (source): Germany
* Country and dialect (target): British English

English translation:review
Explanation:
Why not review? Surely the various versions of the minutes have to be gone through to make sure that the same is said in each language. Perhaps there was an issue that needs clearing up

agree  Horst Huber: It seems the versions need to be harmonized, the result still may need auditing?

  -> Thank you, Horst! Colin's entry tells us that the word "audit" now has a broader use

neutral  British Diana: Is this not a rather formal examination done by an independent body? // I agree that "audit" has been used in this context in your examples, but I still find it strange!

  -> If referring to a company's financial books, yes. But my examples are clearly within the specified context. See example 3 in particular: "Rene also asked for two volunteers to audit the minutes sometime in July"
