German term or phrase: aristocratic titles sequence
Would the German sequence Max Freiherr von Moritz be translated as Baron Max von Moritz? or would the rather odd-sounding Max Baron von Moritz be maintained?

Explanation:
Da der Adel nach 1918 in Deutschland abgeschafft wurde, sind die ehemaligen Adelsprädikaste Bestandteil des Nachnamens geworden. Streng genommen gibt es keine Übersetzung des Namens Freiherr von Moritz, es ist schlicht sein Name (man würde auch nicht Herrn Müller als Mr Miller übersetzen).
Anderes gilt, falls es sich um eine historische Persönlichkeit handelt: Der Freiherr von Richthofen (vor 1918) wird zu Baron Manfred von Richthofen

Explanation:
"Max Baron von Moritz" is what I would choose.

An English example: We usually say "Charles, Prince of Wales" and not "Prince Charles of Wales"
