German to English translations [PRO]
Social Sciences - Government / Politics / East German politics
German term or phrase: Agitationskommission
The entire term is "Agitationskommission des Zentralkomitees".

I know we are talking about a political/agitprop/propaganda unit of the former East German Central Committee, but is there a set term or "official" translation for this in English?

Reference links that back up your answer would be helpful.

Many thanks in advance.

Explanation:
I don't see how there can be an "official" translation for something like this, but agitation committee (or any of your other suggestions) sounds fine to me. Have you tried Googling it?

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your answer. By "official" I mean that it is used in more meaningful locations than, say, blogs and chatrooms. Sometimes there were also (semi-)official translations of East German documents for consumption in fellow socialist countries. Oh, and yes: I started by Googling it ;-)

-> Thanks. I think of "commission" as being an independent entity, whereas a committee is part of a larger whole.
