German term or phrase: Wertschöpfung
Die EAC [East African Community] hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die wirtschaftliche, politische, soziale und kulturelle Integration der Partnerstaaten zu vertiefen. Die Lebensqualität soll durch Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, Wertschöpfung, Handel und Investitionen erhöht werden.

I know that 'Wertschöpfung' means 'value added', but I'm not sure of how to word it so it fits into the sentence. So far I have this:

Competitiveness, the value added, trade and investments should improve the quality of life.

Sounds awkward...

I believe it needs a verb to sound fluent in English.

Explanation:
Probably what is ultimately intended. "Wertschöpfung" might actually be a German contribution? It is difficult to see how a noun phrase like "value creation" or "generation" might work, better use verb-noun phrases like "creating value"?

fair value

Explanation:
could it be something like that? Giving African crops their value back? Sounds good to me and even makes sense in the whole sentence.
