German term or phrase: Postmeister

English translation:post master
Explanation:
A Postmeister in the 17th century was a person of influence and high standing, usually a high ranking member of the nobility. Translating this term merely as "post master' without any further explanation would be misleading. Maybe something like Postmaster General with a translator's note as to the significance of this post?
