German to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Human Resources
German term or phrase:Mitarbeiterüberhang
Context:
„Mitarbeiterüberhang“ – eine der schönsten Wortschöpfungen seit Einführung des menschlichen Rohstoffs.
Given that this is even explicitly identified as a neologism, I doubt there is yet an English translation of it, but maybe there is, or (if not) can someone explain to me exactly what it means?
‘Excess’ Employees & forced redundancy
You can now be made redundant after being on the excess employees list for 12 months.
You are declared “Excess” (formerly “displaced”) in cases where you:
• were previously classified “displaced” and where you are surplus to the needs of your home agency and your substantive position has been deleted
• do not relocate to a different geographic location when your job has been relocated
• are on an employee initiated secondment for more than 12 months and have relinquished your position
• exceed 12 months leave without pay
• have finished a period of approved study leave
but this just seemed so general and universal, which is why I didn't choose "Tech/Engineering" either. Business would seem OK; but not really "Bus/Finanial".
I always try to find something other that 'other' when classifying a question. The term itself has nothing to do with electrical engineering. Maybe business?

Asker: I'm puzzled by your reclassification of this as Social Sciences. The company in question is in the electrical engineering and automation industry, so I'm really not sure why human resources should be classified as social sciences, even if social sciences does deal with HR.
