German to English translations [PRO]
Marketing - Human Resources
German term or phrase: Casting
Where I am from, this is only used in English for finding actors. But the English word is sometimes used in German for a mass interview process for finding people for other types of jobs.

Would any of you native speakers use it that way in English - a casting to find people to promote products in stores, for example? If not, what would you call that type of "casting" in pure English?

Thanks

recruitment event
Explanation:
Hi Claire,

You haven't given us the sentence but depending on how formal the register of the text I would say something like

"recruitment event" or "recruitment day".

In some contexts, but probably not here, what Germans call a "Casting" is what in BE I would call an "audition".

disagree  Kim Metzger: If you're 100% sure that 'casting' is used for regular job recruitment why are all of your references related to the performing arts?

**oh, with reference to "casting", I can only imagine this word being used in connection with performance arts, TV, media etc., and even then the word is not used on its own. It is called a "casting call", example here...
