German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Human Resources

agree  Ramey Rieger: my thought, as well. Work-style is a bit stilted, though, I think and would just use "dedicated".

neutral  Dr. Christopher Brooks: Depending on the register used in the rest of the text, it could be engaging manner or dedicated work style.

neutral  Horst Huber: Hate to rain on the parade. "Verbindlich" is what makes the others think they are in good hands. -- PS. Reasonably so; it is the recipients that feels the "Verbundenheit", and their reaction would be a bit like "much obliged!"

a high level (degree) of commitment to work

Explanation:
a high level of involvement in work

You can also consider:
high-involvement work practices

Recent research suggests that high-involvement work practices can develop the positive beliefs and attitudes associated with employee engagement, and that these practices can generate the kinds of discretionary behaviors that lead to enhanced performance. Simply put, employees who conceive, design and implement workplace and process changes are engaged employees.

personable style

Explanation:
tricky - has two very different meanings; please see Duden - even if you are German and suggested something else ;-)

From the context, I think it's clear that this is supposed to provide some balance; the person is independent but also friendly

engaging manner

Explanation:
Another alternative, along the lines that Theresa suggests. I also have the feeling that the meaning of "verbindlich" here is more to do with the way the person works with others. This is echoed in the second line when talking about the person being very diplomatic in their relations with others.

-> I don't think it is a matter of register. It is a question of emphasis - does "verbindlich" here mean engaging with the people around you or with the work?

agree  Horst Huber: But this seems to come closer to the German. On second thought I would be inclined to propose "obliging."
