German term or phrase: sich exponieren
Seine Stärke ist sein überlegtes Handeln, das er in sozialen Situationen demonstrieren kann, in denen er exponiert ist. Er ist zwar bereit, sich aktiv zu exponieren, drängt sich aber nicht in den Vordergrund.

To be exposed to large groups is OK but to expose himself is so totally wrong!
