neutral  Steffen Walter: "Direct reports" is most commonly used these days/Not only in the US."Direct reports" is widespread in the UK, too, unlike "... subordinates", which is used much less frequently. See eg. http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/About/Who/Management/reports/ind...

  -> In the US because the term "Subordinate", for some obscure reason, has a negative connotation there. In the rest of the English speaking world it remains "Immediate Subordinates".
