German term or phrase: Stützpunktleiter
"Ich war u. a. als Projektingenieur, Turnaround Manager, Instandhaltungs- und Stützpunktleiter für die *** [company name] tätig. Dabei lag der Arbeitsschwerpunkt immer auf Serviceleistungen in der Großindustrie, wie Raffinerien, Kraftwerken und der Petro-/Chemieindustrie."

This is from a small blurb about someones career and some basic personal details (my name is so and so, I am married, have kids, studied blah blah) - he has just joined a new company and this is for their in-house newsletter which always runs a piece introducing new colleagues.

UK English

The second hit on google brought me to this Wiki page:
Stützpunktleiter (Base Action Leader) was a Nazi Party political rank which existed between 1933 and 1938. !!

Obviously not what is meant here!!
I guess it means that he was manager of a particular branch/location or department/area - support/services? But am not not sure which - any advice would be much appreciated! thanks

Service Center Manager
Explanation:
would be my suggestion (or "centre" for UK)

If the client is not happy with "service center", something more general like "base manager" might work well.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Sounds good - thanks Steffen for changing the field, was looking for something like that - jobs, personnel - stupid me didnt think of HR ;)

Asker: I'm afraid this answer is NOT correct - according to the client it has nothing to do with a service center but unfortunately they never came back to me with an answer...
