German term or phrase: Vertrauensspanne
Grosse Vertrauensspanne geben und wenig Kontrollen durchführen

This is a bullet point so unfortunately I do not have much more context...does anybody know the HR term for this?

Many thanks in advance and a happy New Year!

English translation:scope for initiative
Explanation:

Allow plenty of scope for initiative and keep checks/controls to a minimum

Don't use the word 'trust', as this suggests some employees might be dishonest.
Don't use 'confidence' either - no manager can ever feel totally 'confident' that an employee will do the right thing.

In a statistical study (survey), when the mean of a random variable of interest is reported, an error margin is associated with it. The wider this error margin (confidence interval = CI), the higher the confidence level. Example: I can say with very little confidence that it will rain within the next 2 minutes, but I can say with very high confidence that it will rain within the next century.

"Confidence interval" is a fixed term in statistics. Sometimes, they call it "confidence range"... but the correct one here is interval. So, saying
"confidence level" would not be correct because this is a number (alpha) related to confidence interval but distinct from it. Or saying "extent of confidence" would convey the meaning but it's not a statistical term.
