German term or phrase: Wettbewerbsnebenbeschäftigung
All,

I am translating an employment contract from Germany.

The passage reads "Der Mitarbeiter darf während des Bestehens des Arbeitsverhältnisses nur mit ausdrücklicher Genehmigung des Arbeitgebers eine **Wettbewerbsnebenbeschäftigung** ausüben. Eine Zuwiderhandlung rechtfertgt eine fristlose Kündigung....."

I suspect that the whole statement it is something similar to a non-compete clause, but what would be a suitable term?

Thank you.

competitive part-time employment,
Explanation:
part-time competitive employment (either "part-time" could reasonably be substituted by "competitive"; moonlighting (colloquial, and is another possibility in another context, but definitely not here!) are all options, and the word order determines the stress.

Just one or two more ideas...
