"Self-insurance" is incorrect in this case. I have seen the translation "insurance for one's own account", but don't know if that is correct or how to fit that into sentences such as: "Der Abschluss weiterer Eigenversicherungen ist möglich bzw. kann aufgrund individueller geschäftsspezifischer Erfordernisse notwendig sein."

I don't know whether this will fit other contexts within your translation.

It seems to me that insurance cover may be arranged at the group level but individual companies within the group may be permitted to buy specific cover for their own (unique) needs.
