partial- versus total disability/inability to work
Explanation:
the difference between working less than 50% of what a healthy person can do (Berufsunfähigkeit) or total incapacity/inability to work. It's about the degree of impairment/disability/incapacity/inability

partial or permanent disability/inability/incapacity to work

1. Section 8 of the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act
(LHWCA), 33 U.S.C. 908, identifies four different categories of
disability -- permanent total, temporary total, permanent partial, and
temporary partial -- and separately prescribes the method of
compensation for each.

Although each state maintains its own system and laws, workers' compensation programs generally address two key aspects of disability: the extent (total or partial) and the duration of disability (temporary or permanent). The terms "total" and "partial" refer to the degree of medical impairment as it relates to employability.

"permanent" would denote the duration and not, as seems important here, the degree of disability.

partial or complete (instead of "total") incapacity to work/disability
or:
partial or complete occupational disability/incapacity

would be additional solutions:

see:

partial or complete disability

http://www.comped.net/opinions_recentdisp.php?ID=3592
an increase in permanent partial occupational disability benefits

compare (not quite a solution for here I believe):

inability to practice one's profession vs. incapacity to work

Explanation:
Are among the suggestions in Dietl/Lorenz (although it does presuppose that the job in question can be called a profession). The distinction is between being unable to work in the occupation for which you are trained and being unfit for work generally (if you are berufsunfähig you might be able to retrain for a different sort of work, but that won't be the case if you are erwerbsunfähig)

The trouble for using "partially disabled" for berufsunfähig is that it is perfectly possible to be teilweise berufsunfähig, which would then be partially partially disabled. E.g.:
