"deferred pension entitlement" is what I'm using now, but don't know if it is applicable in all instances. The overall topic here is "mobility of scientists", and how this is impeded by existing limitations for civil servants.
So in this case yes, German scientists may have to give up their Beamtenstatus to work abroad, which down the line severely impacts their retirement income.
So Altersgeld here may denote a pot-pourris of retirement income coming from various sources, perhaps made up of some basic Volksrente and other incomes from statutory pension schemes, partial civil service pensions, company pensions, supplemental pension policies, and private/company savings plans.

Assuming this is part of the same document as your other question, Jonathan, this passage is presumably still referring to what happens if someone loses his status as a Beamte before reaching retirement age ("im Falle einer vorzeitigen Beendigung des Beamtenverhältnisses"). I think this is something that didn't use to happen but which may become more frequent in the future. In the other passage we see that the new employer has to make up for the years where the ex-Beamte has not been contributing to the normal old-age pension system. The "erworbene Anwartschaften" indicate that in future the employee would get part of his pension from his old job as a Beamte and the other part from his new job as a Angestellte. So the "Anwartschaften "(How are you translating this?) would then be transferable and the part of the final pension which he had worked for while still a Beamte is called "Altersgeld".
