Erkrankten wiederherzustellen, haben die Unfallchirurgen einen traditions- und erfolgreichen Anteil. Die Zusammenarbeit kommt den Patienten zugute, stabilisiert das unfallchirurgische Handeln und unterstützt die Kompetenz der gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung im Bemühen um laufende Effizienzsteigerungen.
Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between accident surgeons and statutory accident insurance in Germany, and describes their common activity in the past, present, and future. By law, employers are obliged to insure themselves against liability for work accidents and occupational diseases. Accident surgeons have traditionally played an important and successful role in the cooperatives' efforts to eliminate quickly and permanently the consequences of work accidents and diseases. This collaboration has worked to the patients' advantage, sets standards for accident surgical practice, and assists insurance plan administrators in their constant effort to increase efficiency

International agreements on social security generally quote a liaison office for each country and each branch of social insurance. These offices are basically responsible for providing support to the accident insurance institutions, the member companies, the insured and others in implementing international agreements. In addition they have scattered specific tasks as e.g. the payment of accident pensions to beneficiaries abroad.
The HVBG has been appointed national liaison office for the German statutory accident insurance.
