German term or phrase: dort geltend machen

I don't follow the use of 'dort geltend machen' at the end of the following extract from an insurance report form:

Wir werden den Fall mit der zuständigen Versicherung klären und dort geltend machen.

Explanation:
I still prefer "lodge" to "file" in UK English,though it probably won't survive much longer. I've added "the claim" because you can't properly lodge a case or clarify a claim (the same applies to the German original).
