German to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Investment / Securities | | German term or phrase: chancenorientiert | I need a good short translation that fits in with general fund classification. Other examples are "sicherheitsorientiert" or "wachstumsorientiert".
I would use "opportunistic", but this has negative connotations. Anyone got a better translation? |

What kind of fund for what kind of customer? xxxFrancis Lee: 10:19am May 2, 2007: And on which side of the financial fence is your target audience? Edward Bradburn: 11:17am May 2, 2007: Content is Annual Report - Hi folks, thanks for all the answers, I'll decide later on today when I get back to the translation in question. The context is an annual report, so the translation needed is a "neutral" one, just describing the kind of fund involved. The actual fund is a closed-end property fund, and as such risky. As just one example culled from Google, see e.g. http://www.caimmoag.com/en/share/product_comparison/.

| | opportunistic | Explanation: has no negative connotations at all in the US financial vernacular. It rather suggests being 'smart'. Sicherheitsorientiert would be "conservative", wachstums... "(high) growth" |

| Note from asker to answererI chose this in the end since it is neutral but also contains an "element" of risk inherent in it.
I do however think that the context determines the meaning!

| high return/risk
Explanation: I'd have suggested this anyway - and it just so happens to be hinted at in your own link.
Or "high risk/return" ...
But it all depends on your rendering of "sicherheitsorientiert" and "wachstumsorientiert"! Perhaps low ... moderate ...?
