German term or phrase:ausserbörslich gehandelt
"XYZ ist eine private, ausserbörslich gehandelte Aktiengesellschaft mit über 600 Aktionären."
I know that "ausserbörslich" means "over the counter" here, but it's the "gehandelte" that's confusing me - does it actually mean that the company itself (i.e. its shares) is traded "over the counter"?
Confirmation by an expert in the financial field would be greatly appreciated!

Ich finde es gut, wie Du Dir und auch was für Gedanken Du Dir machst, aber die Übersetzung, die Du vorschlägst, kann m. E. nicht der Weissheit letzter Schluss sein. Dazu kommt, daß zumindest für mich als Nichtmuttersprachler Englisch "OTC trading" aktivisch ist, während im Quelltext eine Passivform steht (gehandelte Aktiengesellschaft).
Ich lese diesen Satz anders. M.E. ist gemeint, dass diese private AG 600 Aktionäre hat. Die Aktionäre handeln Ihre Aktien nicht an der Börse sondern u.U. untereinander. Ich lese, dass der Handel der Aktien nicht an der Börse stattfindet. Ich lese nicht, dass das Unternehmen gehandelt wird. Das ist meine Interpretation. Außerdem macht es m.E. wenig sinn diese AG als Ganzes zu Handeln. Da müssten alle 600 Aktionäre ihre Aktien geschlossen zu einem bestimmten Kurs zum Kaufanbieten. Ich könnte natürlich sagen, dass das Unternehmen evtl. mit einem Marktwert von x € oder CHF gehandelt wird. Das bezieht sich dann aber auf den Unternehmenswert.
@Louise: Bitte korrigiere mich, wenn ich falsch liegen sollte. Vielleicht ist aber auch der Ausgangssatz nicht optimal formuliert.

Ich würde das OTC, da es sich eher um eine Bezeichnung für den US-außerbörslichen Handel bezieht dann doch weg lassen und einfach z.B. schreiben: xyz is a private corporation in accordance with Swiss stock company law with 600 shareholders. Its shares are not publicly traded.
