Bus/Financial - Investment / Securities / Asset management
German term or phrase: Eigenvermögen
This term comes up in the investment guidelines of a bond fund (unfortunately, I've never seen the "Anlage 1 zum Zusatzvertrag" referred to in this para).

· Sonstige Anweisungen

I wonder whether this is just another way of referring to the Sondervermögen of the fund, but then again it might relate to the investor's own funds or starting capital ...

Please only answers from colleagues with a good understanding of asset management - thank you.

Clarification request(s) and response
Ralf Lemster: 6:04am Sep 19, 2003: Is this a fund under the German KAGG (possibly a "Spezialfonds")? -
Beate Lutzebaeck (asker): 6:24am Sep 19, 2003: KAGG? - Dunno - no mention of the KAGG or a Spezialfonds in the two-page document I have. The document is titled "6. Entwurf Anlagerichtlinien festverzinsliche Wertpapiere fĂŒr ein in Deutschland steuerpflichtiges Privatvermögen (z. T. mit Nießbrauch behaftet)". This centres around "in Deutschland zugelassene nicht thesaurierende Steueroptimierte Rentenfonds" - no idea whether this type of fund falls necessarily under the scope of the KAGG.

Hi Beate, I think this makes sense because the fund doesn\'t have to pay taxes (or at least not much) on borrowings or money managed for investors, but it would be heavily taxed on its own capital gains.

neutral Ralf Lemster: This refers to a part of the fund's assets, right?

-> If akin to a UK 'roll-up fund', then Beate's idea of Sondervermögen: 1. can go offshore 2. be registered; 3. be taxed separately, if at all > no distributions as the profits are 'rolled up' or poughed back and not distributed.
