German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology) / Software Package | | German term or phrase: Artikelverwaltung für Bistrobereich und Counter | "Lieferumfang:
- 4 x Arbeitsplatzlizenz - 2 x Terminplaner - 7 x Kassenschnellbuchbutton á 48 Feldern für Bistro - und Counterkasse - 2 x separate ***Artikelverwaltung für Bistrobereich und Counter*** - Tarifverwaltung - Anbindung an frei wählbares Identifikationssystem (Feig Megaschloss, Transponder, Barcode,Magnetkartensystem) - Optimierte MS Access Datenbanktechnik mit optimaler Netzwerkfunktion - Installation vor Ort durch Fachpersonal der ABC GmbH"
From an increasingly bewildering software package price list. "2 x Artikelverwaltung" doesn't make grammatical sense. And I don't quite get what "Bistrobereich und Counter" is either. But I guess it's related closely to "Bistro und Counterkasse". What exactly is an "Artikelverwaltung", please? Some sort of item/product management thing? TIA for your assistance. |

Among its list of features, I found this sentence, which seems to be clearly related to "Artikelverwaltung":
"• Verkauf von Artikeln im Counterbereich durch Barcodeeinscannung"
So it would appear to be concerned with the sale of individual items (maybe towels, goggles and the like, or perhaps foodstuffs if it's related to the Bistro), which means that "inventory management", as Friderike has suggested, may well be the right term here.
I wonder if "Counter" is being used in the sense of "Theke"? That would make sense if it were tied in with the "Bistro", which I guess could be a place where food and drink is sold. The Freyberg Pool here in Wellington has a "Theke/Counter" sort of place, which sells food and drink (although it's aimed at passers-by rather than pool users), but it definitely couldn't be termed a bistro or cafe. A German seeing it may well consider it a Theke though.

| | material/article management program(me) | Explanation: Hello! I used to translate Retail software for SAP, and this is the term they used for the sub-module which enabled you to list all the items sold, their prices, descriptions, how many you had left, etc. I think they are providing 2 separate programmes, one for the bistro area (whatever that is) and one for items sold at the counter area. |
