Bus/Financial - IT (Information Technology) / IT for logistics company
German term or phrase: Abruf
This is from a mutual for a logistics company.

I would have guessed this to be retrieval of emails but this states 'email addresses'.

Just wanted to check I am on the right lines.

retrieval
Explanation:
... is correct.

The German wording is pretty poor and should read something like "der halbstündige Abruf der bei den operativ relevanten Mailadressen eingegangenen E-Mails ist bindend".

agree  Kcda: Yes, I also think retrieval is correct i.e. data retrieval ( as in IT = EDV). The whole sentence is pretty poor? The whole German excerpt is poor!

call-up; polling

Explanation:
I think they're ALL on the wrong track. This term is usually used for calling up remote addresses, and in this case it looks to fit, too. I expect there is some sort of mechanism to call up any messages stored awaiting the half-hourly polling.

checking

Explanation:
I think that would work here, as the e-mail addresses have to be checked every half-hour.
