German term or phrase: Berechtigter
Revision of software for AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems).

Part of the list is the following:

"Im Rahmen größerer Ermittlungsverfahren besteht der Bedarf vor der AFIS-Recherche der am Tatort gesammelten Spuren Berechtigte auszuschließen."

"Berechtigter" in this context means: a police officer or investigator who is authorised to be at the crime scene and whose fingerprints therefore will be exempt from investigation. However, I can't come up with the proper insider term in BE.

Thanks a ton in advance!

Hi Nicole. We are flattered that you have requested BE. Despite Fran's intervention above, any formulation with 'authorised', 'approved', 'entitled' etc will not have the ring of authenticity in this context (IHMQEIIO)

Notes to answerer
Asker: I indeed asked for an insider term.

agree  Hilary Davies Shelby: perhaps also "attending officers"? Could be: in the UK, these seem to be trained civilians: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scenes_of_Crime_Officer
