German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology) / Data file in media industry
German term or phrase: Essenzen
This is from an Austrian spec. sheet for data processing systems in communications and media. The context is:
"Die Systeme dürfen nur interne Essenzen (keine externen) schreiben"
Without further knowledge I would translate it as 'essentials', but would appreciate advice.

or maybe rather 'essence data'
The distinction between media data and metadata is a fundamental concept of AAF. Media data (also referred to as "essence data") is the actual content, such as video, audio, graphics, animation, and text.
