German term or phrase: Freigabe einholen
I have just read this post on the expression above:

However, in the context I am translating, I believe that release should be used.
Es geht hier um den Porduktionsrelease, in dem die Produktion also in Betrieb genommen wird. Dazu muss die Freigabe von "der einzelnen involvierten Teilbereiche ein[geholt werden], welche Schnittstellen mit der deployten Applikation besitzen."

Could "secure release" be used in this context?

from the context this looks less like an SAP workflow to me, but more like a general heads-up for all concerned teams or units... or is this really a process, that is embedded in an application?

"engineering release" is a basic quality assurance term - someone must sign off (and assume responsibility) that production may proceed with the given "thing"
