German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / Labour law, employment contracts
German term or phrase: Änderung der übertariflichen Zulage
In an employment contract.
This website explains what it actually means quite nicely, but I don't know what the correct term would be in English:
http://www.bongen.de/de/archiv/nl2-06.php

Basically, it means something like this: An employee earns, say, EUR 10 as his basic salary (just to make the figures easy) and gets an extra allowance (agreed in his contract) of EUR 2, so he ends up earning EUR 12. If his basic salary is increased on the basis of a collective bargaining agreement by, say, 10%, his basic salary would then be EUR 11. The extra allowance is "angerechnet", so he still ends up with EUR 12 (in this case the extra allowance is reduced to EUR 1), it's just made up differently, i.e. more basic salary and less extra allowance.
Anyone know how to say that properly in English?!
