Bus/Financial - Law: Contract(s)

Again, this is from a company's terms and conditions of business. I'm having trouble making the end of this paragraph clear. This is my attempt so far, but I'd be grateful for any better suggestions!

"Liability for consequential damages, i.e. for damage to other legally protected property belonging to the Purchaser, or for loss of profit etc. is excluded, to the extent that we are not also required to assume responsibility for consequential damages arising from a defective or faulty assured characteristic of the goods."

English translation:to be liable for consequential damages
Explanation:
They say that they exclude any liability for consequential damages except to the extent to which they would be liable for such consequential damages on the grounds of [as a result of/due to] the lack of a warranted characteristic/quality of the product.

Please note that this should read "wegen des FehleNs", not "wegen des FehleRs".
