German term or phrase:Berufsträger
Die aktuellen Stundensätze für **Mitarbeiter** belaufen sich zum Zeitpunkt des Vertragsbeginns auf Euro xx,xx je angefangene Zeitstunde. Der Stundensatz für **Berufsträger** (Steuerberater) beträgt zum Zeitpunkt des Vertragsbeginns Euro xx,xx je angefangene Zeitstund.
Im interested here in how you would differentiate between Mitarbeiter and Berufsträger. I initially thought employee versus contractor but this is not IMO the standard meaning of Berufsträger.
the type of work carried out i.e. work requiring a professional qualification e.g. lawyer etc. Both schools of thought appear to have a degree of validation so, given the rush nature of the job, I opted for this solution plus a note to the client. Anymore input welcome for future reference!
Harald - in response to your question, I went for 'contracted professional employee' which is an amalgamation of both strains of thinking i.e. this terms describes the basis on which somebody words i.e. salaried verus contracted AND
...not sure, if the term is used the same way in your context. However, from the excerpt you provided, IMO your text aims to differentiate between employees and external service providers... hope this helps!?
Hello Simon - from what I've found in the web, it seems as if "Berufsträger" is used for "Freiberufler" (tax consultants, lawyers, translators etc.) who are working in their profession rather than being “partners” in a chancery…
I think you need some sense of 'professional' in there - you can earn a fee as a feng shui consultant, but whether that is professional as such, I am not sure!

Explanation: Just a bit of a shot in the dark! I am trying to differentiate the two categories on the basis of wages and salaries. Could well be a bit out of date, that form of differentiation!

Explanation: I think this is to differentiate between "employees" and "professionally qualified staff", as in "Steuerberater".
If this were for a GB text I would perhaps use "employees" and "management team" to make the distinction.

yes I agree but you asked "how you would differentiate between Mitarbeiter and Berufsträger".
I would say "Mitarbeiter" would be the "workers" and the "Berufsträger" are the "professional staff" hence the differing rates quoted, hourly or otherwise. Perhaps I should have made it clearer, the "staff" are treated differently because of their "professional" rather than "skill" status.
