German to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / Employment Contract
German term or phrase:Tarifbindung
The heading of a clause 'Tarifbindung'.
I am completely in the dark about this one, guessing it is something to do with obligations to the rate of pay, but do not know how I could put it in a contractual context.
Explanation: ...which is similar to "the state of being bound by collective bargaining agreements" (="Tarifgebündenheit" according to Dietl/Lorenz, 5th ed., p. 699) and seems to be the term used by the European Union (see http://www.eurofound.europa.eu/eiro/2002/01/feature/de020129... ).
Here is an example: "Ellguth, P., & Kohaut, S. (2004). Tarifbindung und betriebliche Interessenvertretung: Ergebnisse des IAB-Betriebspanels [Collective bargaining coverage and workplace interest representation: Results of the IAB-workplace panel]. WSI-Mitteilungen, 57(8), 450-454." (See http://cps.sagepub.com/cgi/content/refs/40/12/1433 .)
The clause talks about the validity of the contract in the event of the transfer of the business or part of the business to another owner, thus the employee will have a different employer.
