German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / Employment Contract
German term or phrase: Tarifbindung
The heading of a clause 'Tarifbindung'.

I am completely in the dark about this one, guessing it is something to do with obligations to the rate of pay, but do not know how I could put it in a contractual context.

Any help would be great,

Thanks

English translation:collective bargaining coverage
Explanation:
...which is similar to "the state of being bound by collective bargaining agreements" (="Tarifgebündenheit" according to Dietl/Lorenz, 5th ed., p. 699) and seems to be the term used by the European Union (see http://www.eurofound.europa.eu/eiro/2002/01/feature/de020129... ).

Here is an example: "Ellguth, P., & Kohaut, S. (2004). Tarifbindung und betriebliche Interessenvertretung: Ergebnisse des IAB-Betriebspanels [Collective bargaining coverage and workplace interest representation: Results of the IAB-workplace panel]. WSI-Mitteilungen, 57(8), 450-454." (See http://cps.sagepub.com/cgi/content/refs/40/12/1433 .)
