German to English translations [Non-PRO]
Bus/Financial - Law: Contract(s) / Regulations and directives
German term or phrase: §
Here is a general question and I am looking for feedback. This may belong in another forum, but I am not sure exactly where to place it since not all languages use this symbol.

In translating many regulatory texts, I usually translate this symbol as "section" . However another translator I respect noted that the current convention is to that I leave the symbol as is, so that text will read:.

"9 § In addition to the standard document discussed in 3 §, the application for transiting referred to in 8 § shall also include information that shows..."

Has anyone heard of this? Is this a UK English convention?
