Ein guter Patentschutz für eine solche (länger wirkende) Substanz wäre jedoch schwieriger, wenn diese schon in einem Absicherungspatent enthalten wäre, das auf der Basis sehr unvollständiger Unterlagen angemeldet worden wäre.

“Since June 8, 1995, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has offered inventors the option of filing a provisional application for patent which was designed to provide a lower-cost first patent filing in the United States. Applicants are entitled to claim the benefit of a provisional application in a corresponding non-provisional application filed not later than 12 months after the provisional application filing date.[…]
· Provides simplified filing with a lower initial investment with 12 months to assess the invention’s commercial potential before committing to the higher cost of filing and prosecuting a non-provisional application for patent;
